we wrapped up our first weekend of racing here in Norway and it looks like the whole team has recovered from the travel and is looking pretty good. I was supposed to be posting some video for you guys right now but the video camera got effed up somehow so all the footage is bunk.

so you’ll just have to settle for me rambling on. The Sprint race on Friday didn’t go that well for the US men but kikkan made it through the quarterfinal and got to fight her way to a 9th place. I must have been a little but flat during the qualification, and then somehow got caught sleeping during the quarter too. Somehow I let myself get pushed back into 5th place before the last hill so I had a lot of work to do in the final 200 meter. Got by some folks and almost manage to advance in second but missed it by a foot. so it kind of sucked. But it was the first hard skiing we’ve done over here and it was a good way to wake up the body.

In the distance races Bird is definitely off to a strong start finishing 5th in both the classic and the skate. Our girls did really well too both Mo and Liz having strong skate races and kikkan putting together a wicked classic race to finish 4th. The sprint on friday helped put me on the right track and I was able to put together a fun 10k classic and score some of the best distance points of my life. It felt good to get back into distance shape and it looks like some of the training I did this summer is going to pay off. here are some pics from Liz’s camera.
